Final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design student Eli Heijink launched his new clothing collection 'Mx GRRRL' at an event of the same name, which he organised to bring together LGBTQ+ creatives from across Leeds, to celebrate and empower women, Trans and Non-Binary people within the feminist community.

The event took place at Wharf Chambers in Leeds, and featured live music by local punk bands Draags and Ewy and included a runway to showcase Eli’s fashion collection.

Eli brought together a collaborative team from across Leeds Arts University including BA (Hons) Filmmaking, BA (Hons) Fashion Photography and BA (Hons) Graphic Design students.

BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Elanna Barrett designed the poster for the event, using both her own work as well as being inspired by Eli’s collection.

The event was captured by BA (Hons) Fashion Photography students Aneela Siddiqui and Dan Hutchings, and BA (Hons) Filmmaking student Lauren Jones.

Runway models were sourced from a range of places, including Leeds Arts University (Oscar Croft, Serena Roth, Ananya Saleh and Emilly Obeng), as well as alumni from Leeds Beckett University (Sasha Wilding) and The Northern School of Contemporary Dance (Lucy Harries).

“Organising and experiencing my first event was such an unreal feeling, it was incredibly overwhelming having so many people come and support me. Seeing everything come together in the end couldn’t have felt more rewarding.”
