We spoke to BA (Hons) Photography student, Rosie Verney, on studying at Leeds Arts University, why she loves Leeds and her plans for after graduating...

Why did you choose Leeds Arts University?

I knew I wanted to study in a unique city that offered lots of creative and collaborative opportunities to me as a student, yet still offered a taste of the typical 'university lifestyle' like other big cities. With Leeds Arts University being the only specialist arts university in the North of England I felt it was the perfect choice for me to build my creative skills and knowledge closely surrounded by other creatives.

What made you select BA (Hons) Photography?

I chose to do Photography as I knew this was a career I wanted to pursue, I specifically intend to pursue Fashion Photography. I decided on this because the Photography course offers a broader curriculum and the chance to learn different styles and techniques such as film photography and moving image. I felt this offered me more chance to be creative in my responses to briefs.

What do you really enjoy about your course and the University?

The best part of studying at Leeds Arts University is that is has brilliant access to industry standard photography equipment, studios, editing spaces and printing facilities.

What do you plan to do after University?

By my final year I plan to have established myself as a Fashion Photographer and have made contacts within the industry to help pursue my career.

What makes Leeds a good place to study?

Leeds is a great place to study as it is a very creative city and is full of other creative people willing to collaborate and help you strengthen your skills and begin your career. It has a very sociable environment as it is full of other like-minded people and students, there is always something to do.
