Leeds Arts University collaborate with Powerhouse Studios

Creative Networks

Universities and higher education institutions (HEIs) throughout Yorkshire and the Humber engage with businesses in a variety of ways. We are proud of our collaboration with Powerhouse Studios, a content production house based in Leeds.

Powerhouse Studios partner with brands to boost sales, enhance brand awareness and foster communities. We began our relationship with them when staff from the studio visited the University to give a talk as part of our Creative Networks programme.

Powerhouse Studios provide our BA (Hons) Fashion Photography, BA (Hons) Photography and BA (Hons) Filmmaking students opportunities to experience what it’s like to work in a commercial studio, helping them gain valuable employability skills. In return, Powerhouse Studios benefit from having access to talented students and graduates.

Earlier this year, Powerhouse Studios hosted a female-focused Uni Insight Day, bringing together female industry leaders from Magnet Kitchens, Dr Oetker, MPM, and agency Alchemy Media, to inspire students. Students gained a first-hand look at the content production process from initial client briefing to final delivery.

“I attended the Powerhouse insight day which was also the women’s day special. As a student photographer soon to be exposed to the real world I found this incredibly helpful and it was amazing to experience what a day in the life in the industry looks like. Before this I had never been into a studio like this and I learnt so much from all the photographers and various other members of staff throughout the day. It really made me think about my career and what I would love to go into in the future. I was amazing how the possibilities there were never impossible and it really made me think who I wanted to be as a photographer.”

“The North’s creative industry has so much potential. It’s our responsibility to influence it positively and leave a lasting impact. By investing in the education of future talent, we’re ensuring a legacy that resonates with innovation, diversity, and limitless possibilities.”

Neil Adams, CEO, Powerhouse Studios

“We want to play our part in showcasing our vibrant industry and developing students’ awareness of the variety of career paths on offer and the key skills and attributes they need to succeed in a challenging job market. I encourage all businesses to make those connections with their local universities and get involved – it’s fun, really satisfying and great development for your own team!”
