BA (Hons) Textile Design students, Laura Maycroft and Millicent Beck, have won prizes at the annual Bradford Textile Society Design Competition.
Established in 1893, the Bradford Textile Society is the oldest textile society in Britain, and one of the oldest in the world. The Society provides opportunities for everyone with an interest in textiles to meet and discuss a range of textile-related topics with invited speakers. The Society’s annual Design Competition attracts over 1,000 entries from students throughout the UK.
Recent graduate Laura Maycroft was awarded first prize in the Prestigious Textile Ltd Award, for her print ‘Palm Houses’ from her collection ‘Oiseau du Modernisme’. The prize was given for a design showing innovative use of colour, techniques and motifs, an exciting and interesting design that is inspired by current interior or fashion trends. Laura has been awarded a £500 cash prize, along with a week-long placement in the design studios of Prestigious Textiles.
