Two BA (Hons) Textile Design alumni and a BA (Hons) Illustration alumni design bears for Leeds public sculpture trail.
The Leeds Bear Hunt sculpture trail features more than 85 bear sculptures, inspired by children's author Michael Rosen's book 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. The sculptures have been placed across Leeds.
Clarence the Climate Bear is a collaboration between alumni Mary Wortham; a print and pattern designer; and illustrator Janice Leung.
Mary graduated from Leeds Arts University with a BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design. She now works as a pattern designer and regularly collaborates with musicians in creating posters and cover-art. Janice Leung is an illustrator based in Leeds, working in commercial illustration, murals, and editorial illustration. Janice studied BA (Hons) Illustration, and is currently an in-house designer at Hallmark Cards. You can find Clarence the Climate Bear at Piglove Brewing Co. by the river.
Beartanical the Bear was designed by BA (Hons) Textile Design alumni Lizzie Rose. Lizzie is a socially engaged artist, she works as an illustrator, designer, and also teaches workshops. Beartanical is inspired by Leeds' old botanical gardens and the bear who used to live there.
After the bear trail ends on 9th September, some of the artworks will be auctioned to raise money for charity.
