Amelia Holmes, Extended Diploma in Creative Practice and Millicent Beck, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design have been selected to exhibit their work at Origins Creatives, taking place at the Mall Galleries in July.
Origins Creatives is organised by UAL Awarding Body to provide a platform for young creatives from across the UK and internationally, connecting them with a wider audience including potential collaborators and industry leaders.
Millicent's piece 'Communication' explores the boring aspects of conversations through playful, colourful and abstract surface pattern design. Millicent has been accepted onto the University’s BA (Hons) Textile Design in September.
“Research has allowed me to be open minded and to explore the extensive possibilities of how communication occurs. It has supported my creative thinking by helping me understand and become knowledgeable about my theme and process, supporting my problem solving skills and development.”
Amelia’s submission ‘Ultimate Panoramic View’ is an 3m long painting of an invented landscape. This piece caught the attention of UAL Awarding Body’s curator, Charlie Levine, and is built around the concept of epic horizons. Sections of this painting are inspired by places Amelia visited, ranging from Norfolk, England to Orlando, Florida. Amelia is also continuing her studies at Leeds Arts University, progressing onto on the BA (Hons) Illustration course in September.
