BA (Hons) Creative Advertising (now BA (Hons) Marketing Communications) students jetted off on a course trip to Madrid to experience working with overseas agencies.

During the trip the students visited three different agencies, Dentsu Creative Spain, Leo Burnett Madrid and McCann Worldgroup Spain, where they were set briefs and given the opportunity to pitch their ideas.

The briefs included the expansion of burger brand VICIO across Spain; promoting an audio tour guide for Madrid; and encouraging Gen Z drinkers to consider San Miguel beer.

“All of the agencies were great, and what our students took from it is that even though audiences may be from different cultures, we are all connected by the same emotional drivers. We had a mix of first, second and third years, who all worked together in teams to show off their creativity. Our hosts shared their experiences of breaking into the industry and they were impressed with the work our students produced. We all really enjoyed the experience.”

Nicholas Young, BA (Hons) Marketing Communications Senior Lecturer
