Three second year BA (Hons) Marketing Communications students have been given the opportunity to pitch in collaboration with students from other courses on a series of live briefs with UK agencies.

Their first in-agency pitch was for Continuous in Liverpool. Second year BA (Hons) Marketing Communications students Maddie Harbord, Oliwia Harbuz, and James Colman collaborated with BA (Hons) Graphic Design students Christina Douglas, Lily Kenyon, and Sadie Groom. The students were tasked with an asset-based brief on a brand of their choice, and were taken to Liverpool to pitch in-person to Creative Director Steve Conchie, and Copywriter Hollie Spooner, who recently graduated from the University’s Creative Advertising (now Marketing Communications) degree.

Next up, the three Marketing Communications students collaborated with BA (Hons) Creative Writing students Aiden Murphy, Leila Biggs and Mimi Smith on a brief for London agency Dentsu. The students were set a copywriting brief for Tic Tac by University alumni and Junior Creative Emma Simpson, who provided feedback along with fellow alumni and the other half of the Junior Creative team, Ella Curtis.

The final pitch of the module was at Syn. in Leeds. This time Maddie, Oliwia and James collaborated with BA (Hons) Visual Communication students Amakai O’Brien, Beth Elliott and Kate Chak. The students were set a brief and pitched their ideas to Senior Creative Jack Cox, and Account Manager Millie Guy, who both studied the University’s Creative Advertising degree (now Marketing Communications) and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice.

The second year BA (Hons) Marketing Communication students also had the opportunity to collaborate with their peers, working with final year students on a pitch to Social Chain in Manchester.
