Marketing Communications students pitch to creative agency Ride Shotgun

BA (Hons) Marketing Communication

Final year BA (Hons) Marketing Communications students pitched their creative ideas for the chance to win a one-week paid placement with creative agency Ride Shotgun.

The winning student team were Sonny Terruli and Katy Hartley who took up the week long placement, working across both the Sheffield and Leeds offices, gaining experience in different departments.

Whilst on placement they were set the challenge of taking a project from brief to execution in just one week. The pair were asked to reposition online whisky retailer Malts to a new, younger audience.

The team's concept was to pair whisky with different foods, such as spicy crisps, salty popcorn, or dried fruit, tailoring to their intended audience’s love of trying new things. Over the week, they pitched their initial concepts, amended them after feedback, styled and shot the campaign, and presented their final pitch.

“I loved the fast-paced nature of developing ideas, shooting test photography, refining images in post, and finally presenting the work. It reinforced my passion for creative problem-solving and gave me invaluable hands-on experience that will shape my future in advertising."
