BA (Hons) Fashion Photography graduate Farid Renais Ghimas has been nominated for the Paris Photo Aperture PhotoBook Awards.

The 2025 Paris Photo Aperture PhotoBook Awards are an annual celebration of the photobook’s role within the evolving narrative of photography. Now in its 13th year, the awards recognize excellence in three major categories of photobook publishing: First PhotoBook, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalogue of the Year.

Farid's book 'Angan, Angan, Harsa' has been shortlisted in the First PhotoBook category. The book was published in November 2024 and launched at Tokyo Book fair last year.

Farid started working on the project that would become this book during the last year of his degree course. The title of the book translates to 'Dreams of Joy', and explores themes of personal identity and his upbringing in Indonesia.

'Angan, Angan, Harsa' and the other shortlisted books will be exhibited at Paris Photo, which is open to the public from 13-16 November. The books will then go on an international tour, which includes Printed Matter in New York in January 2026.

The final three category winners will be revealed on Friday 14 November at 3pm (CET) at a ceremony at Paris Photo.

“The 2025 PhotoBook Awards shortlist represents an extraordinary range of artistic styles, geographic perspectives, and design innovation, showing how the photobook remains one of the most compelling and effective vehicles for storytelling today."

Brendan Embser, Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Award judge and Senior Editor, Apeture Magazine

“Displayed on the balconies of the Grand Palais during Paris Photo, the shortlisted titles of the PhotoBook Awards will captivate an international audience and stand as one of the most anticipated highlights of the fair.”

Anna Planas, Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Award judge and Artistic Director, Paris Photo
