Fashion Design graduate mentors current student after COS design brief

BA (Hons) Fashion Design

BA (Hons) Fashion Design graduate and COS Design Assistant, Charli Senior, recently returned to the University to deliver a live brief to our current final year students.

Charli Senior is a Fashion Designer based in London, and has been Design Assistant at the sustainable fashion brand COS since 2022. Charli regularly returns to the University to deliver talks to current students, and was recently asked to set a brief for the current BA (Hons) Fashion Design students about her commercial work.

Charli asked the students to design a commercial range of garments that appealed to the COS target customer and brand aesthetic. The students submitted pages relating to brand/concept, design development, technical 'flat' drawings of their designs, and illustrations.

Charli was extremely impressed with the designs submitted and selected Sam Brown as the winner. Charli also highly commended the designs of Cara Murphy and Erasmus student, Tiffany Ke.

"I really enjoyed Sam's research, it is refreshing to see how they've looked further afield and have various sources of inspiration. The drapes are very interesting and it’s nice to see how these have been tailored to the COS customer without becoming too commercial."

"I am honoured to have won the COS brief; working on it helped me develop my abilities working to another brand's aesthetic, bringing my own creative insight into the design language of COS. I am looking forward to my mentorship opportunity with Charli, and the insight it will bring towards moving forward into the industry when I graduate."

Sam will now receive mentorship from Charli throughout their third year on portfolio and professional development to support them when entering the industry.
