Shaun Somerville is the Design Director at YMC, having previously worked alongside designer Nicholas Daley in establishing his brand, and for Nigel Cabourn.

Shaun graduated from BA (Hons) Fashion Design in 2013 and is currently working on his first collection for YMC which will launch for SS25. Shaun is overseeing the men’s, women’s and unisex collection as a whole and currently working closely with the team on new developments, toiles, fittings, fabrics, trims and colour.

“The course provides the building blocks for creative pursuits, the three things that I really remember and use to this day; an understanding of garment construction, CAD (super important) and that my success is on me - you have to be inherently self-motivated to achieve. Leeds Arts University was, and still is, renowned as one of the best in the UK and as the only specialist arts university in the north it quickly became the only place I wanted to go.”
