Flo Woolley is a comic artist and illustrator based in Leeds, whose bibliography includes ‘Skin Deep’, ‘Souvenir’, and ‘Black Dolls’. Their work explores themes of queerness and adventure, creating complex characters, and building science-fiction worlds with industrial and whimsical elements.

After graduating from BA (Hons) Comic and Concept Art in 2023, Flo published ‘Skin Deep’, a queer horror romance comic set within a nocturnal dance hall, with San Francisco-based independent comics publisher Silver Sprocket. Initially created for their third-year final project, ‘Skin Deep’ launched with a signing event at Leeds comics store OK Comics. They also continued work on the webcomic series ‘Souvenir’, a co-creation with fellow BA (Hons) Comic and Concept art graduate Ivy Robinson, put out a number of short comics and zines including ‘Scalers’, and tabled at comic art festival Thought Bubble.

Alongside their original work, Flo illustrated ‘Black Dolls’, a graphic novel written by author Rachel Faturoti. Volume one, published in July 2025, tells the story of an all-Black female pop-punk band, following the group as they slowly close friends amidst family drama, self-discovery, and an unforgiving music industry.

Flo is currently illustrating the next volume of ‘Black Dolls’ alongside shorter comic projects including an original piece for an upcoming horror anthology, and a collaborative solarpunk story. Looking forwards, Flo says “my biggest ambition right now is to write and create my own full-length comic, as I enjoyed making ‘Skin Deep’ immensely and have wanted to make a longer story ever since.”
