Beth Connolly is a freelance videographer based in the North-West and is also the Creative Producer for the Young Women’s Film Academy (YWFA) in Newcastle. Beth graduated from BA (Hons) Filmmaking in 2022.

Beth’s favourite project involved organising a three-day workshop as part of the YWFA’s Holiday Club program based on identity, body confidence, gender pronouns and youth representation. The YWFA works with young women and non-binary people from Newcastle and the North-East who feel female spaces are right for them, exploring social action filmmaking through free workshops, events, trips and experiences.

"My advice to future students would be to interact with the industry outside of your study as much as you can while you still have access to the resources available through Leeds Arts University! Building up your portfolio while you can still use the industry standard equipment for free really helped me when I then had to launch my career as a creative freelancer after university. Getting hold of kit after graduation is definitely a challenge!"
