Hungry Sandwich club is a Leeds based team of creatives specialising in illustration, motion graphics and animation. Founders Martin O’Dea and Andy Foster met at Leeds Arts University while studying BA (Hons) Graphic Design and set up the business in 2014. That year the pair were the successful applicants of the University’s graduate residency at Duke Studios. This included six months of mentoring with a free collaborative working space in Leeds City Centre.

Hungry Sandwich Club won the New Blood Best in Show award at the D&AD global advertising design awards 2014, their clients include Hepworth WakefieldMastercard and the BBC.

Andy and Martin stayed on at Duke studios after the funded tenancy ended and have since expanded the team. We asked them how the support provided through the University and their residence has helped them:

“We’ve done better, sooner than we had anticipated. We couldn’t have done this without Duke Studios. It gave us an amazing head start, fast tracked us. The mentoring has taught us everything, without this it would have been trial and error. The help here was brilliant. The key to our success has been Duke Studios”.
