Visual Communication students exhibit work at John Lewis

BA (Hons) Visual Communication

Second year BA (Hons) Visual Communication students curated an exhibition of their own work for three large window spaces at John Lewis, Leeds.

This annual brief has a focus on working collaboratively and sharing work with a public audience. This year, they were given the theme of ‘Partnership’, which the students interpreted in a myriad of ways, some exploring partnership as a theme for the content of the work and others exploring partnership as a means of collaboration with others.

The work on display ranged from fashion photography, graphic posters, 3D sculpture, video, zines and product design, and the exhibition GOOD COMPANY, was curated to make the best use of the space over three large window spaces to capture the interest of a diverse city-centre audience.

“Live briefs are integral to the VisCom course ethos of ’Sharing with Purpose’. It is so important for students to have opportunities to share their work out in the real world, working alongside others and to tight deadlines. Live briefs help prepare students for the realities of working with clients, and the pressure of presenting to a public audience elevates the quality of the work and provides critical feedback.”

Lucy Bergman, Senior Lecturer, BA (Hons) Visual Communication

GOOD COMPANY is on display in the Eastgate windows at John Lewis from 5 – 8 December 2024 - 5 January 2025.
