UNPACKED, an exciting one-day exhibition of work from second year BA (Hons) Visual Communication students, was showcased to the public at Leeds Corn Exchange.
The project was delivered as a live brief to the second-year students to organise and promote an exhibition showcasing a diverse body of visual communication work to a public audience at Leeds Corn Exchange.
The students were given an initial prompt of an object, in this case a cardboard box, to kickstart an explorative process for their own work and the collaborative exhibition. Although students produced individual work for the event, the organisation, curation and documentation involved demonstrated their ability to work collaboratively with peers, tutors and visiting professionals.
Work included graphic posters, photographic installations, films, animation, sculpture, jewellery, illustration, and artist books. The event also included a panel talk hosted by two students, Flora Houldsworth and Latifah Park, with three industry speakers: illustrator and alumni Cait McEniff, designer, developer and archivist Matt Lamont and filmmaker and alumni Julia Parks.
Promotional materials, including a poster and social media assets, were designed by student Jack Burnett. Miranda Giddens produced a video document of the event which can be seen below.
