Visual Communication students exhibit at John Lewis

BA (Hons) Visual Communication

Second year BA (Hons) Visual Communication students have been exhibiting their work at John Lewis, Leeds.

The exhibition, ‘Intersection’, is the culmination of a second-year module, Communicating with Audience, designed to give students experience of exhibiting their work in a high-profile venue. This annual brief emphasises engaging with the public through their practice.

Last year, students curated a show in the John Lewis Partnership's Eastgate windows which was so well-received they were invited back to use the space again this year.

The students were asked to respond to the theme ‘City of Leeds’, working on self-directed briefs exploring themes related to Leeds. The work showcased in the exhibition includes zines, illustrations, moving image, 3D and textile design.

“Personally, this experience has been very rewarding as Leeds is a city that holds a lot of family history and memories, and now it’s the place I get to call home. It has allowed me to relive childhood memories, like walks through Meanwood Park with my grandma, and translate them into a physical publication through the mediums of illustration, collage, and printmaking.”

Intersection was on display in the Eastgate windows of John Lewis, Leeds, from 16 January to 5 February 2026. Students have been responsible for promoting and documenting the exhibition. You can see more of their work on the Intersection Instagram page.
