Two final year BA (Hons) Graphic Design students, Amira Mutiara and Sunmin Kim, have won a coveted D&AD Wood Pencil in this year’s New Blood awards for their giffgaff B-Corp submission.
Amira and Sunmin's campaign was in response to a brief set by giffgaff. The students were awarded Wood Pencil at the recent New Blood ceremony, meaning that that the panel have deemed their work as displaying excellence in at least one of the judging criteria.
"We created the campaign “Be Better, Be giffgaff” to inform that giffgaff has been doing good and would do better. Using symbols we wanted to deliver the message in a fun, simple, engaging, and most importantly, in a giffgaff way. The campaign aims to encourage people to become a part of good business by using giffgaff."
"The D&AD awards have given us confidence in our design style and approach, and we are excited about the future design industry we will be involved. We will endeavour to create more and more designs that will have a good impact in the future and the world."
"We worked hard on it, and put all of our efforts, we did all the research and multiple tries before coming up with the final one. Still we can't believe that we are shortlisted. We are thrilled to have won our first competition and feel that our design has been recognised."
