Recent Fine Art graduate wins Crinan Residency 2025

BA (Hons) Fine Art

Recent BA (Hons) Fine Art graduate, Tafsia Muzib Dana, has been announced as this year’s winner of the Crinan Residency 2025 by the Federation of British Artists at Mall Galleries, the Crinan Hotel and the Kiosk.

The Crinan Residency invites newly graduated artists to apply for a week-long residency in the fishing village of Crinan, Scotland, in the award-winning Crinan Hotel. As this year’s winner, Tafsia will have access to a large studio space at the Annex Art Centre, art materials from Michael Harding to the value of £500, a stipend of £500 towards travel and other expenses, a feature on the Mall Galleries website and Instagram, and the opportunity to exhibit work at the Kiosk art gallery in London’s West End.

"After spending the last three years working in the same studio space, it feels like a wonderful chance to shift into a more open environment where I can paint directly from nature and take inspiration from the landscape. In a way, it feels like a bit of a break, but I’m sure it will still deeply inform my practice."

Tafsia’s work is primarily about bringing together different elements from various memories into a single space and creating a new visual image from them.

"It will be interesting to see how the residency might influence my work – how the colours shift, and how being near the water might bring something new into the work. I’m especially excited to visit the fishing village of Crinan, as I’ve never been there before, and I’m really looking forward to staying at the beautiful Crinan Hotel."
