A cape designed by MA Digital Fashion student Clara Dou featured in an exhibition celebrating the 33 distinct and diverse wards of Leeds.
Part of Leeds 2023, a year-long celebration of culture, ‘A City Without Seams’ showcased a series of bespoke motifs celebrating each ward created by artist Keith Khan and presented through textiles, garments and photographs.
Fabric featuring Khan’s motifs was produced and woven by British luxury brand Burberry on the jacquard looms in their mill in Keighley. Clara Dou was selected for the project by a panel which included Khan, and was gifted the fabric to use in her garment. Clara’s cape was showcased in the exhibition held at Leeds Corn Exchange in September.
MA Digital Fashion student Amy Fisher also created artwork for the project, which was shown at touring fashion booths throughout the summer. Find out more about the project here.
