Recent BA (Hons) Illustration graduate, Janice Leung, designed canvases for the Summer of Colour project brought to the city by Welcome to Leeds and Leeds-List. A selection of these are now on display at The Tetley.
In the summer, a giant public art project gave people the opportunity to inject some colour to Leeds city centre. It saw huge canvases pop up in key locations for people to embrace their creative side and paint Leeds by numbers.
Janice’s canvases came together to make up a giant piece of art that depicted the Leeds cityscape, and celebrated all that is great about the city with plenty of landmarks to spot. The public were then invited to pick up a paint pen and get colouring!
“Leeds is a great city and it’s always fun illustrating it; there’s always something new that catches my eye whenever I wander around town. Creating an interactive mural has been really exciting and I’m looking forward to see how it turns out.”
The public and artists who put paint to paper in the summer can now see their artwork on display at The Tetley until Sunday 17 December.
