VMC 2023 is a one-day conference and exhibition that provides a vivid insight into marketing communications. VMC is organised annually by CDI (Creative Digital Industries), a BPIF (British Printing Industries Federation) Special Interest Group in conjunction with BOSS and Founding Partners: Precision Proco and hub.
VMC has established a close working relationship with Leeds Arts University, giving students the opportunity to work on a commercial brief and see their creative work executed across multiple channels and assets. Robert McClements, President CDI and Curator VMC, calls the relationship: “an opportunity with mutual benefit”, with students getting the opportunity to work on a commercial brief, and the conference utilising their “brilliant creativity” to refresh its branding. Zak submitted his winning proposal whilst studying for his graphic design degree at the University.
Robert says that Zak’s winning proposal:
“(…) is truly outstanding. Competing with other proposals which all met the brief and could have been implemented it was the unanimous first choice of the judges. The core treatment of the VMC logo is completely engaging with a combination of a reflective 3D graphic overlaid with movement that grabs the attention. The judges were also impressed by the comprehensive research that provided a compelling rationale for the choice of colour, font and execution.”
