Two painted canvases are mounted on an industrial looking brick wall. One painting is of a young man with long hair siting with his arms folded, and the second is an abstract piece using browns, yellows and reds.

Broken and dishevelled brown wooden furniture is strewn across a large white exhibition space. Small black things are on the wall and floor, they look like a swarm of insects.

Graduating students from the University’s BA (Hons) Fine Art course will exhibit their show, Against the Grain, at Free Range 2023.

Free Range is the annual fine art showcase for emerging artists and creative graduates, providing them with a platform to exhibit and connect with industry beyond university. The exhibition is held from 30 June – 2 July at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane.

Against the Grain presents the work of Fine Art graduates in a range of media; including painting, sculpture, printmaking, installation, drawing and photography.

The exhibition opens with a preview event on Thursday 29 June, and is then open to the public between Friday 30 June – Sunday 2 July. For more information and full opening hours visit the Free Range website.
