Fashion students collaborate for Monster Ball challenge

Students from BA (Hons) Fashion Design, BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing and BA (Hons) Fashion Photography came together during Welcome Week to take on a ‘Monster Ball’ challenge.

Now in its fourth year, the event saw groups of four to five students from across all three courses create designs for a monster-themed catwalk. Working with discarded materials and unused fabric collected from the course studios over the previous year, along with unusual items from Scrap Store Leeds, each team created a ‘Fashion Monster’ outfit to be worn on the catwalk by one of its members, to a soundtrack of the students’ choosing.

With no marking involved, the event was intended as a fun activity where students could build cross-course connections to follow up on as their studies progress.

The event is hosted each year at Left Bank in Hyde Park, a venue that loves welcoming the students.
