Creative Writing students publish their first anthology: Labyrinth

BA (Hons) Creative Writing

MA Creative Writing

BA (Hons) and MA Creative Writing students launch their very first anthology of writing: Labyrinth. This student-led anthology celebrates writing across a variety of forms and genres, including poetry, nature writing, comedy, and extracts from novels in progress.

As part of the Leeds Literature Festival, the anthology was launched at Hyde Park Book Club by the course’s resident comics, Alec Bullett and Evan Visser. The event provided an opportunity to hear from the next generation of writers emerging from the vibrant writing community that the course has fostered and continues to develop.

“For the past five years, I have been privileged to work with writers of fiction, nonfiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, drama, games, and many hybrids between. Our course ethos is to bring writers working in different forms and genres together, to start conversations between poets and playwrights, fantasy writers and memoirists, conversations that twist and turn and, I’ve seen time again, lead to new and exciting destinations. It is apt, then, that Leeds Arts University Creative Writers’ first anthology should be titled Labyrinth. The writing here reflects the creative journeys these writers have set out on, the decision making, the forks in the path taken and rejected.”
