Animation students nominated for Royal Television Awards

BA (Hons) Animation

Students from BA (Hons) Animation have been nominated for the for the Royal Television Society Yorkshire Student Awards.

The Royal Television Society (RTS) Awards are one of the gold standard awards in the TV industry, showcasing talent across all genres in British television. Prizes are awarded regionally, with winners going on to the national RTS Student Awards later in the year.

The course has received seven nominations across four categories, with a total of 17 students working on the shortlisted animations.

By competition category, the shortlisted films are:

Best Animation

Abby & Crabby by Olivia Stevens

Dreamer by Michael Dimsey

Entertainment and Comedy Drama

Girls At Uni by Georgina Oldknow

See You Later Space Invader by Ally Babbini-Baker, George Mead, Katie Holland, Jenna Haldane

Journalism

Straatsrason by Kaspar Graef Lakin, Jessica Kapur, Kacper Wolski, and Mia Cooper

Saving The Planet

Bin Duty by Wren Owens, Jake Thomas, Katie Holland, and Esme Jones

Swim Free by Siera Deshishku, Bonnie Wright, Evelyn Cheung and Michael Dimsey

The winners will be announced at the awards event taking place at Leeds Trinity University on Wednesday 18 March. The event is open to all students, not just nominees, and is a fantastic opportunity to meet some of the talented industry professionals from within the region.
