Animation students design t-shirts for Giant Kitten

BA (Hons) Animation

MA Animation

BA (Hons) and MA Animation students have won a competition to design t-shirts to be sold at independent Leeds storeĀ Giant Kitten, giving them a platform to showcase their talent.

Giant Kitten is an independent store specialising in kitsch and quirky gifts, situated in the Corn Exchange, Leeds. They are keen supporters of up-and-coming creatives, collaborating to produce items sold in-store.

This is the fifth year Giant Kitten has collaborated with the University on the brief. This year, the students were asked to create a superhero, evil villain, or group of characters based on ā€˜urban-pests’.

The overall winner was MA Animation student Elzie Hudson, with runner-up places awarded to BA (Hons) Animation students Daisy Pullan and Liv Surrey, and MA Animation student Xavia Johnson-Vigne.

ā€œIt’s always fantastic to see the work that students at the Arts University are producing - every year they blow us away with their designs! Young people working in the arts deserve as much exposure and support as possible from everyone in the community because they make our world a fun, inspiring and interesting place. Congrats and thanks to everyone who took part - keep on being awesome!ā€

Carol Macpherson, owner of Giant Kitten

The winner received a £50 gift voucher, with the runners up each receiving £20. The students also received a free t-short featuring their winning design, which are also being sold in store, with the students receiving commission on every item sold.
