Students from the BA (Hons) Acting for Screen course recently visited Production Park in Wakefield, gaining a behind-the-scenes insight into one of the UK’s most innovative creative industry hubs. The visit offered students the opportunity to explore cutting-edge facilities used across film, television, live production and touring events.
During the tour, students were introduced to developments in motion capture technology, large-scale live production studios and immersive creative spaces designed for modern screen storytelling. These environments demonstrated how technology is rapidly transforming the way performances are captured, produced and experienced by audiences.
The group also learned about the park’s role in high-end television production. The Netflix drama Adolescence, starring Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters, was filmed at Production Park, highlighting the site’s growing importance as a location for major screen projects.
Beyond film and television, Production Park is internationally recognised for hosting rehearsals and technical preparations for some of the world’s biggest artists. Global stars including Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Coldplay have all used the studios while preparing large-scale arena tours.
For students, the visit provided a valuable industry perspective, allowing them to see how performance, technology and production intersect in professional screen environments. Experiencing these facilities first-hand helped deepen their understanding of the collaborative and technical processes that support contemporary acting for screen.
