Introductions

Location: Vernon Street Gallery, Leeds Arts University, Vernon Street, Leeds LS2 8PH

This exhibition invites staff and students to consider the relationship between practice and pedagogy in our very own communal space. Staff work is presented in this space alongside descriptions of their ideas and processes in order to introduce students to the staff team as practitioners in their own right: teachers and artists, lecturers and designers. The artist statements invite viewers to consider the ideas and processes of the staff members work. This highlights the relationship between the theoretical discourse of art and the hands on experience of crafting it and to begin a dialogue with students through the work. The aim of the exhibition is to blur the relationship of teacher/student or mentor/creator to show that we are all perpetual students within this community of practice.
