Ruby Brown recently graduated from BA (Hons) Graphic Design in summer 2025 and has been immediately successful in gaining great opportunities. A couple of months after graduating, Ruby was featured in ‘Ones to Watch 2025’ by It’s Nice That, and has recently completed a six-week design internship at Koto creative agency, London, where she worked across a range of projects including branding, art direction, and editorial work. In 2026, Ruby is starting another really exciting internship in design, 3D and motion.

"I was drawn to how practice-focused the Graphic Design course is. Compared to more theory-heavy courses elsewhere, Leeds Arts places a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, experimentation, and developing ideas through making and testing, which suited my approach best."

Ruby is also a freelance graphic designer. She began freelancing in her second year at university and was able to build a small client base by sharing her work on social media. Most of Ruby’s freelance projects sit within the music sector, including vinyl design and promotional materials for events.

"My lecturers made the biggest difference to my experience at university. They were patient, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping students grow. Each lecturer on the Graphic Design course has their own specialism or area of interest, which meant we were exposed to a wide range of approaches and possible directions within the industry. And many of them are also practising designers outside of the university, a few running their own studios, so the guidance we received was grounded in real, current industry experience."
