Rebecca Buchanan graduated from BA (Hons) Illustration in 2022 and was awarded a six-month residency on the Leeds Arts University Funded Studio Space scheme at Duke Studios in 2023. Since graduating, she has been developing a freelance practice in editorial illustration alongside exhibiting at markets, taking on commissions and painting murals.

Rebecca’s practice combines analogue processes, painting, drawing and printing, which are then collaged together digitally to create joyful characters and prints.

"This six month residency gave me an insight into the benefits of working in a shared studio with other talented freelancers and businesses. Also having my own space helped with my time management and added structure to my weeks."
