"Before coming to Leeds Arts, I studied Music, Drama and Film Studies for my A-Levels, but my love of acting mainly comes from being a part of my school’s musicals. The first time I got a main role was during High School Musical which is what made me realise how much I enjoyed performing and that I wanted to pursue this career.

Throughout the week we are always performing in some way or another. On a morning, we spend time playing warm up games to prepare ourselves for the rest of the day. Then on an afternoon, we apply new techniques to a variety of scripts or even try writing our own. I think my favourite part about this course is that we haven’t had a single day in uni that we haven’t been acting.

We have had multiple guest lecturers who have talked to us about their experience on film sets and what to expect. They have each taught us their method to approach a new role and given us feedback on our performances. In third year, we put on a showcase and invite agents to come and watch so that we’ll have connections for when we graduate. Over the full course, we have worked on mainly screen acting but with a bit of theatre performance as we never know what we will be auditioning for in the future."

"Leeds is a great place to study. It is a big city, with around 25% of the population being students. There’s always something to do no matter what your interests are. Whether is going clubbing, visiting a museum or just talking a walk, Leeds is a great city for everyone to enjoy. Personally, I like to visit one of the 15 Wetherspoons in Leeds as it’s a great way to relax after a long day at uni or just to catch up with friends.

Leeds Arts staff are really good at providing feedback on our work quickly so that we can improve. There’s also a lot of support available from both course leaders and academic support in case you are ever struggling with deadlines. As well as this, there are many societies that you can join during your free time that could help you develop your skills or could just be a good way to get to know people with similar interests."
