Maddy Rothery is a graphic designer and Lecturer on the Graphic Communication pathway of the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Leeds Arts University.

Maddy has over a decade of industry experience combined with an undergraduate degree in BA (Hons) Visual Communication from Leeds Art University and a PGCE from the University of Cumbria. She adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to art and design, embedding this into both her pedagogical and personal practice. Prior to teaching, Maddy worked as a graphic designer and art worker at several Yorkshire-based agencies and continues to freelance, with a focus on brand identity, motion graphics and typography.

Her research-led personal practice focuses on the simplification and communication of complex ideas using asemic writing, diagrammatic language and gestural marks.
