MA Creative Practice
"I chose Leeds Arts University for its exceptional facilities, like the ceramic labs and laser cutters, and its emphasis on interdisciplinary practices. The welcoming international team and strong creative community made it the ideal environment for me to explore my passion for materiality and storytelling through hand-making."

At Pearl Academy, Gauri teaches on the Foundation year and mentors emerging designers to think critically, work confidently with materials, and build a reflective studio practice. A designer, creative practitioner, and facilitator, she is passionate about teaching and learning alongside her students, shaping spaces where curiosity, rigour, and making come together. Her practice explores materiality and sustainability through ceramics, resin, and mixed media, often bridging traditional craftsmanship and contemporary methods to tell stories of process, place, and hands.
Previously, Gauri has designed and delivered numerous workshops across India and in the UK, with a focus on material exploration, sustainable practices, and creative problem‑solving. Her studio work includes functional objects and site‑responsive works, from ceramic vessels and planters to murals and sculptural forms: conceived as tactile narratives that invite use, care, and conversation.
"My time at Leeds Art University was transformative. The facilities, particularly the ceramics studio, laser cutters, and other tools, enabled me to experiment and refine my craft. Under the guidance of my mentor, whose guidance was invaluable, I explored multidisciplinary approaches and created a sort of set design inspired by nature for my final project. This included ceramic planters, resin coasters, ceramic jewellery, and silicone moulds. Displaying my work at the postgraduate show was a proud moment and a culmination of everything I learned at Leeds Arts University."
