BA (Hons) Illustration and MA Illustration - Course Leader

Hello, I’m Amy and I’m the Course Leader on the BA (Hons) Illustration and MA Illustration courses. I am an illustrator, researcher and academic and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Before joining Leeds Arts University in 2018 I was a Lecturer in Illustration and Animation, a Course Leader for Access to H.E. Art and Design and an external moderator.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Graphic Arts specialising in Illustration from Liverpool John Moore’s University; a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education and Training from Edge Hill University and an MA with Distinction in Illustration and Graphic Design from Liverpool John Moore’s University. My practice-led research focuses on exploring unseen abstract narratives from literature through unorthodox methodologies, including data visualisation, distance reading and shape-based topologies. Current projects include an exploration of the sublime landscapes of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, presented at the Gothic Realities Symposium at University of Stirling in 2019 and the mirror as a portal to infinite choice in Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass.
