The Leather Works communal area

The Leather Works offers a wide range of amenities designed to enhance the student experience. Located just a short bus ride into the centre of Leeds, and a 20-minute walk from Leeds Arts University.

The site offers an exciting range of amenities, with a dedicated gaming and TV area, a private dining room with kitchen and an onsite bakery. There is also a cinema room, an onsite gym ensures that you can stay active, whilst quiet study areas offer space for students wanting space to focus on work. 

The accommodation is close to the scenic Meanwood Valley Trail, with views on to Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, ideal if you want to explore greener parts of the city by bike or on foot. You can also easily stock up on essentials with supermarkets within walking distance or a short bus ride away. The accommodation offers secure cycle storage, and students without their own bike can take advantage of the free-of-charge cycle hire.

Leeds Arts University students are offered the choice of single or double en-suite bedrooms in shared flats, with all bills including superfast WiFi, and TVs in the shared lounge/kitchen area.

Please note, whilst our allocation of discounted rooms is full, The Leather Works has some other rooms available.  To secure your room directly with them, please visit their website, or alternatively call them on 0371 705 1163.

All rooms are available on a 44-week contract, with an earlier start date for Foundation Diploma students. If you require a 51-week contract (recommended for postgraduate students) please let us know by emailing admissions@leeds-art.ac.uk.

How to book your accommodation

We work with two local accommodation providers, Carr Mills and The Leather Works, both within walking distance of our Blenheim Walk site.

If you book your accommodation through the University you will receive a preferential room rate.

For first year undergraduate applicants we guarantee a place within Carr Mills or The Leather Works, providing that you firm accept your offer via UCAS by 7 June 2024, and complete the booking process within two weeks of receiving your contract from the accommodation provider.*

The majority of our accommodation is offered to first year students on our undergraduate degree courses, but we also have rooms available for Foundation Diploma and postgraduate students.

The benefits of staying in the accommodation we offer are:

  • You'll be living with other students from Leeds Arts University

  • Our accommodation is close to the University (15-20 mins walk)

  • Preferential room rates when booking through the University

  • Both accommodation providers offer you the option to stay on in the accommodation for your second year of study

Accommodation booking is accessible to applicants who have accepted their offer of a place at Leeds Arts University. Once you accept your place the Admissions team will be in touch via email with a link to our Accommodation Request Form.

Once you have completed this form, we will forward your information to the accommodation provider. They will then be in touch with you via email with information about how to secure your room.

Whilst we facilitate the booking process, please be aware that any contractual agreement is between you and the accommodation provider.

We encourage you to book your room once you feel confident that Leeds Arts University is the right choice for you.

Please ensure you, and your guarantor carefully read your tenancy agreement so that you fully understand the cancellation clauses within the agreement.

* Please note that whilst we guarantee a place within accommodation, the room type and location is subject to availability at time of booking. Due to the high demand for accommodation, applicants who do not complete the provider booking process within two weeks, risk their room being reallocated to another applicant.
