Coverage

Wi-Fi is available across campus at both Blenheim Walk and city centre locations during opening hours. Whilst every attempt is made to provide blanket coverage there will always be some areas with a weak signal.

  • Leeds Arts University does not perform deep SSL inspection and cannot decrypt your private traffic or communications.

  • For user safety, all DNS traffic is handled by JISC DNS servers which provide additional security. This may cause your device to display messages indicating that 'private browsing' or similar features are unavailable.

Connecting to eduroam

Using the GetEduroam App

Leeds Arts University users may configure eduroam using the geteduroam app which is available on the App Store and Play Store.

Manual Setup

For all devices, the general process to connect is as follows whether at Leeds Arts University or another institution:

  1. Access the list of visible Wi-Fi networks and choose eduroam. Depending on the device, you may see additional networks within the main settings rather than via a quick-connect option in your control panel.

  2. At a minimum you will be prompted to enter a username/identity and password (see below for additional settings). The username must be in the format username@organisation, for example:

    • 123456@leeds-art.ac.uk (Leeds Arts University students)

    • sarah.smith@leeds-art.ac.uk (Leeds Arts University Staff)

    • johnp@remoteplace.edu (Visitors)

  3. When you click to connect, you may be asked to view and accept an SSL certificate. Check that the certificate is issued to wifi.leeds-art.ac.uk and then accept it. You may also be prompted for your device's local credentials in order to store the certificate.

  4. Depending on the device, you may need to attempt to connect again, as it is often not possible to both accept the certificate and successfully connect on the same attempt.

  5. Your device should now have successfully joined the eduroam network. As long as you choose to remember the network and connect automatically, your device will join the network whenever you are in range without further action.
