GREAT Scholarship

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Leeds Arts University is proud to offer a GREAT Scholarship! The GREAT Scholarship 2025 programme, launched by the British Council, supports postgraduate students to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

Leeds Arts University is delighted to offer one GREAT Scholarship for an Indian student applying for a one-year postgraduate course. The scholarship will be awarded as a £10,000 tuition fee discount.

Applications will be considered by a scholarship panel and awarded on the basis of:

  • Academic grades

  • Strength of application as evidenced by the personal statement

  • Strength of portfolio

Eligibility
  • Applicants must be citizens and residents of India

  • Applicants must be holding an offer of a place for postgraduate study for 2025 entry

  • This award is available only to postgraduate applicants who are liable to pay tuition fees at the international fee rate

  • Successful applicants must accept the scholarship and pay the tuition fee deposit by the deadline stated in the award letter

GREAT Scholars must be willing to attend events and participate in activities organised by Study UK, the British Council and Leeds Arts University, including social media activities, to discuss their experiences of studying in the UK.

Profile of a GREAT Scholar

GREAT scholars must:

  • be a citizen of a GREAT target country

  • have an undergraduate degree that will enable entry onto a postgraduate programme at one of the UK universities taking part in the GREAT Scholarships campaign

  • be motivated and academically able to follow and benefit from a UK postgraduate taught course

  • be active in the field with work experience or with a proven interest in the proposed subject area

  • meet the English language requirement and other academic requirements of the UK HEI

  • be willing to embody the UK Higher Education experience, by attending lectures and tutorials and engaging with extra-curricular activities, and act as an ambassador for UK Higher Education, by promoting the value of studying at a UK HEI

  • be willing to establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment

  • represent the high standards of the GREAT brand by becoming an advocate for scholarships

  • be willing to attend events or participate in other activities organised by Study UK and the British Council for all UK-based GREAT scholars, including social media activities to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK

  • The contact details of the scholarship recipient will be shared with the British Council for promotional purposes.

On return to India, a GREAT Scholar:

  • is willing to demonstrate future contribution to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement through the benefits achieved after graduating from UK higher education

  • is willing to maintain contact with the British Council and act as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships, by sharing experiences of studying in the UK with future GREAT scholars

  • is as an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships, willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about their experience of studying in the UK.
