"My work aims to examine how subverting norms in surf-related photography can communicate themes of environmental responsibility and the clash of counterculture roots and commercial interests relevant in surfing today...
...As surfing grows, more surfers means more oil-based surfboards and wetsuits, more travel, more plastics and more threats to the environment and it is therefore important to explore such contradictions."

Disabled Christ on the Cross in the Time of Plague
"It is an opportunity to say what is it like to view the world through somebody else’s eyes. It is an opportunity to say what is actually strength and weakness, what is it to fear and love, what do they mean to people who may not move to people who may not move like us, or see like us, or hear like us but they feel like us, all the time, every time. Obviously the time that we are living in at the moment is an historic moment of self reflection and reckoning for the entire world. It is a proof that as individuals life is enriched but if one takes the lust for independence and individuality too far, it simply does not work. We are part of an ecosystem, part of a community, part of a world that ultimately suffers and succeeds together, if at all."

On a Daily Basis
"On a Daily Basis (2020) is an artist’s ebook talking about Dayoung’s journey of material minimalism since the summer 2019. It provides a documentary-like insight on her decluttering journey of unnecessary belongings, touching upon: what it means to live with only the essentials; what she lost and learned; how it shaped her way of experiencing her everyday; and the limitations of this lifestyle. By portraying her relationship to her belongings and how it has changed overtime, she intended to provide a mirror for the reader to contemplate about their relation to their items."

Fly Tipping
"I chose fly-tipping as my sustainable problem in Leeds. I first came across this when coming in on the train. After exploring more into the subject, when reading Leeds live, I found there were 26,831 cases in 2017/18 compared to 2012/13 with only 2,977. I realised how much of a problem it was getting and people need to be reminded of the subject"
