BA (Hons) Illustration - Course Leader

Hello, I’m Amy and I’m the Course Leader on the BA (Hons) Illustration programme, predominantly teaching on the 2nd year. I am an illustrator, researcher and academic. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Before joining Leeds Arts University in 2018 I was a Lecturer in Illustration and Animation, a Course Leader for Access to H.E. Art and Design and an external moderator.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Graphic Arts specialising in Illustration from Liverpool John Moore’s University; a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education and Training from Edge Hill University and an MA with Distinction in Illustration and Graphic Design from Liverpool John Moore’s University. My practice-led research focuses on exploring unseen abstract narratives from literature through unorthodox methodologies, including data visualisation, distance reading and shape-based topologies. Current projects include an exploration of the sublime landscapes of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, presented at the Gothic Realities Symposium at Sterling University in 2019 and the mirror as a portal to infinite choice in Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass.
