SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES ENGAGEMENT

Here at Leeds Arts University, we are keen to work with secondary schools and further education colleges to support your students in navigating their journey into higher education. We hope to increase awareness and understanding of the range of opportunities in the creative industries and the steps to get there.

We offer a range of activities to best support your institution, staff and students, from in-school talks, informative campus tours and creative workshops, to attendance at your higher education fairs.

We have a dynamic programme of activities on offer...

Introduction to Leeds Arts University

Designed to give students an overview of Leeds Arts University, this talk covers the variety of courses on offer, the award-winning facilities available and the benefits of studying here at Leeds Arts University. Students will learn about the range of support available to them during their studies, as well as taking a closer look at the career opportunities available with a creative arts degree.

Course specific talks

Take an in-depth look at one of our courses. We offer 19 undergraduate courses, 7 postgraduate courses and two futher education courses. We are able to deliver specialised talks for students interested in a specific course or subject area. Delivered by course staff, they are able to share details of the course structure, as well as career opportunities and alumni success stories.

Is Higher Education for you?

Campus Visits

Campus Tour

Delivered at our Blenheim Walk or Vernon Street buildings, we welcome students on a tour which explores the state-of-the-art facilities available. Depending on interest we can pair this with a course specific talk and/or workshop tour.

Workshop

Delivered by our course staff, we offer subject specific workshop tours which allow students to explore and develop their current creative practice. Depending on interest we can pair this with a course talk and/or campus tour.

Preparing for arts university

These sessions focus on the preparation and transition to creative arts further or higher education. Taking place after school/college during the last two weeks in September, the two Preparing for Arts University sessions include introductory talks, videos, presentations, interactive worksheets and activities. Along with meeting and working with our student ambassadors, we explore a range of topics, including:

  • Guidance on the application process (including UCAS)

  • Support with portfolio development and interview skills

  • Information about student finance

  • Student ambassador input about student life

  • Individual support tailored to your needs, including the offer of a mock interview

  • Information, advice and guidance links and a glossary of terms

  • The opportunity to contact the course staff throughout and following the sessions for support and feedback

  • Exploring a range of careers in the creative industries

Teacher engagement

This offers teachers the opportunity to engage directly with our course staff to learn about a specific course and what students can expect when studying at Leeds Arts University.
