The University provides outstanding opportunities for undergraduate students as they prepare for careers in the creative industries. A vacancy has arisen for a Print & Printmaking Instructor based across both the University’s Print and Printmaking studios. The work involves a range of responsibilities including, instructing Further and Higher education students in the safe, appropriate and professional use of Print and Printmaking equipment, processes and techniques as required by the curriculum.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team applying knowledge and skills to plan and deliver inductions about relevant processes and prepare learning materials to aid staff and students. They will also work flexibly, providing support to staff and students by setting up and maintaining equipment and materials in the print and printmaking workshops.
Applicants should be aware that this role involves some flexibility in working hours and will include some evening sessions on a rota basis during term time.
The successful applicant should have a degree in a creative discipline or equivalent industrial experience, have a sound knowledge and understanding in some or all of the following areas: screen printing (fabric and/or paper), screen preparation and exposure, dyeing and dyeing techniques, textile repeats, , paper printmaking, Risograph and bookbinding. Relevant experience of assisting/instructing students is desirable as is knowledge of large format digital fabric printing.
