Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England. We have contributed significantly to the development of arts education for over 170 years, and have developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students and staff. The Universities Further Education provision is made up of a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design and an Extended Diploma in Creative Practice.

A vacancy has arisen for a Pathway Leader in Graphic Communication within our Further Education provision. Based primarily on the Extended Diploma course, the role may also contribute to the Foundation Diploma. The duties of the post include teaching general visual language during the diagnostic introductory stages and then taking responsibility for the planning and delivery of the Graphic Communication specialist pathway. There will be administrative and line management responsibilities in addition to the teaching.

The Graphic Communication area deals with students who are interested in applying for degree courses across the full range of Graphic Communication including Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, Advertising, Marketing Communications, Illustration, Animation, Motion Graphics, Comic and Concept Art, Film and TV, and Photography.

Applicants should have a degree in a related subject and a teaching qualification. They should be able to demonstrate a technical appreciation of processes and equipment relevant to the pathway, knowledge of industry and courses at degree level that could benefit the students learning experience and progression into HE and a clear understanding of the administration requirements to support the management and delivery of the course. Experience of teaching in the FE sector along with experience demonstrating leadership qualities in an educational setting are essential.
