Erasmus+ provides a grant to support higher education students undertaking a work experience placement (or traineeship/internship, whatever you prefer to call it!) in a choice of 32 countries across Europe. Why not travel, improve your language skills, gain work experience, and get paid too!

To receive a grant, placements must be between 2-12 months in duration. Placements can take place over the summer vacation or for up to a year after graduation.

You are responsible for sourcing your own placement. There are plenty of useful websites to help you, for example, Erasmus Intern.

Where you work and who you work for is up to you. You could work for a private or public company, in a school, for a trade union or in a non-profit organisation.

Erasmus+ will provide funding as a contribution to your costs. The Erasmus+ grants are €470-€520 a month, depending on the country, which should help cover accommodation and some living expenses.

Please note: As the Brexit transition period has now ended and the UK has confirmed it will no longer participating in the Erasmus+ programme we are currently awaiting details of the new Turing scheme. The Turing scheme will provide funding to support both European and worldwide exchanges – we will update with more information as and when it becomes available.
