Summer Graduation 6 & 7 July 2021

We are pleased to announce that our graduation ceremonies will take place on 6 & 7 July 2021 in Leeds Town Hall, and graduates can choose to attend in person or online. We are committed to delivering a special and memorable graduation ceremony where you feel safe to attend in person or valued and excited to join online.

2021 Graduation Ceremony

What to expect

If you choose to attend the ceremony in person we appreciate some of you may feel cautious to attend a large event. To make the event as safe as possible we are holding six smaller ceremonies so everyone is very well spaced within the Town Hall. Again, as a safety measure to reduce mingling before and after the ceremony, your gown will be posted to your address and there won’t be a drinks reception. Instead of a drinks reception you will receive a gift bag to take away.

If you choose to attend the ceremony online you will join the live ceremony via Zoom. You will be able to watch the ceremony and then as your name is read out to receive your degree the live video stream from your computer will be displayed on a screen on the stage in Leeds Town Hall. The audience will be able to see your face and you will be able to hear them clap and congratulate you.

Gown, hood & hat

As a graduation gift from the University the gown, hood & hat hire is free of charge. We ask you to take good care of them and return them to Ede & Ravenscroft within 7 days after the ceremony. The gown will be supplied with a green postage bag and a pre-paid UPS postage label. To return it drop the parcel at a UPS drop-off location, click here to find your closest location.

To get the correct hat size take extra care measuring the circumference of your head to ensure your hat fits you well. Take the measurement 2.5cm above your above your eyebrows.

The gown will be delivered on Monday 28 or Tuesday 29 June to UK addresses. The gown will be posted to international addresses, we cannot guarantee the delivery date but aim to get it there in time for the ceremony.

On the day of your ceremony dress in your gown, hood & hat before you arrive at the venue. We hope you enjoy wearing them, the crimson hood was designed by a BA (Hons) Textile Design graduate and it is completely unique to Leeds Arts University.

Guest Tickets

Graduates attending the ceremony in person can book two free guest tickets.

This year there will not be any extra guest tickets and guest tickets from graduates not attending will not be redistributed. Our priority in the pandemic is to produce a safe event and that means keeping the audience to a minimum.

Ede & Ravenscroft will issue etickets and guests must show these tickets to enter the Town Hall.

Guests without tickets can watch the ceremony live on YouTube.

Eligibility

To be eligible to attend the ceremony you need to have successfully completed your undergraduate degree by June 2021 and had your outcome ratified by the June Final Examination and Progression Board.

If you have resit requirements, or submission extensions which mean your final degree is not confirmed in June, you will be invited to the winter graduation ceremony on successful completion of your course.

Government restrictions

We have yet to decide if masks will be requested to be worn and we may request guests to have taken a Lateral Flow Test prior to the event, this will be decided nearer the time and will be based on Government guidance.

As ever government restrictions due to the pandemic are very fluid. We sincerely hope to deliver the graduation in person however we will respond to the external environment and reserve the right to move the ceremony to online only if required.
