My work is mostly sculptural, utilising various clays, resins, and silicone to create interesting textures. I plan to expand my range of materials to include brass and bronze. Leeds Arts University gave me the chance to experiment with these mediums and create interesting effects such as veins in the wing of the bat creature (pictured). I’ve always had a love for creature design, especially for those designers who make fantastical creatures plausible using the features from real-world animals.
I’m especially drawn to 'Synanthropes', animals which have found ways of surviving and thriving close to humans living in a suburban environment. These creatures fascinate me with their ability to quickly adapt to changes in their environment and their resourcefulness in doing so. The sculpt here was designed to be such an animal and was inspired by many real synanthropes, such as urban foxes, rats, and even city dwelling simians such as the grey langur in India.
