Vienna ‘Ad Venture’ for Creative Advertising Students

27 April 2018

A team of students from the University’s BA (Hons) Creative Advertising course have made the final three in the European-wide Ad Venture Student Competition 2018.

After two rounds of judging, The Oxymorons, made up of Lisi Davis, Cicely Alderson, Jake Scott and Georgina Smith have been selected as finalists in the competition. They will now travel to Vienna to present their campaign to the final round jury, composed of two academics, two industry professionals and two client representatives. The winners will be announced on 18 May, and will be awarded a trip to Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June 2018.

The Oxymorons’ campaign is designed to highlight the simplicity of making a positive impact on the refugee crisis. They have used brands such as Pot Noodle to demonstrate how consumers can fit support for the movement into their busy everyday lives.

The competition is organised by the European Institute for Commercial Communications Education (edcom) and EACA, and gives students the opportunity to work on a creative advertising campaign, sending their submissions to a panel made up of the client representatives and other industry experts.

Another Leeds Arts University team, The Advocados made the final 10, and in 2017 Creative Advertising students 'Team Tortoise', were overall competition winners with their campaign, What Are You Laughing At?
