University Graduates win YCN Awards!

29 July 2019

Recent graduates from the University’s BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Creative Advertising courses have won commendations at this year’s YCN Student Awards.

Graphic Design graduates Amy Roberts, Hannah Rice and Holly O’Connor were awarded commendations for their responses to the Artisan Drinks brief, which required them to create an outstanding brand campaign to drive sales for a premium range of artisan drinks within bars, hotels and restaurants in the UK & Australia.

Hannah Rice took the idea of the mixer drink as lifting not only the alcoholic spirits they are often paired with, but the spirits of those drinking them. Her compliment based campaign uses adjectives that could be applied to both the drinks and to the audience: sweet, bubbly and refreshing. The campaign also includes an interactive element, with 'Would you rather...' questions printed on beer mats designed to encourage conversation.

Creative Advertising students Lydia Martin and Evan Gilsenan, and Graphic Design student Sophia Bethanis, won a commendation for their response to the Art Fund brief to create a campaign to raise awareness among students that actively choosing to visit museums or galleries more often can be a powerful antidote to the stress and anxiety of student life.

Established in 2001, YCN (You Can Now) is an award-winning learning network helping creatively-driven organisations build capability to achieve their goals. New Now was launched by YCN to elevate and enable next generation talent. Live creative briefs are open to anyone studying, or to have recently graduated anywhere in the world.  The entries are judged by the organisations who have written the briefs, and all the commended students will be invited to take part in a special exhibition and ceremony held in London in Autumn 2019.
