Students’ shortlisted for prestigious Penguin Random House Design Award

05 May 2017

BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Beth Ewans and BA (Hons) Illustration student Emily Chaffer have been shortlisted in the Children’s Cover Award Category for the Penguin Random House Design Award 2017.

The free-to-enter competition, now in its eleventh year, gives students the opportunity to respond to a live brief to design a book cover for one of three categories, Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction and Children’s Cover. Emily and Beth’s designs were shortlisted from over 2,100 applications, with just 10 chosen in their category; Children’s Cover Award.

The 30 finalists will now receive detailed feedback from Art Directors at Penguin Random House, giving the students the opportunity to refine their designs before final judging takes place in early June.

The winners in each of the three categories will receive a work placement within the Penguin Random House UK design studios, as well as a £1,000 cash prize.
